My Try at Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens was known for using more words then was necessary to describe things in his stories. I remember someone saying that this was due to Dickens being paid by how many words he wrote so I shall give it a try myself.

*NOTE: I have a bad vocabulary so if my descriptions are lackluster then I am sorry. :)

Object: Lamp

The tan colored lamp gives off a faint glow. Its cone shaped lamp shade by itself looks like a UFO but when combined with the lamp it creates an elegance look. The stand of the lamp has some lady-like curves and comes to a peak at where it meets the radiant light bulb. One could say that without the lamp shade to contain and focus the light, it would explode in all directions. Then there protruding out the side of the lamp there is the silver switch. Its shape is similar to that of a switch used on a windup toy but for some reason it reminds me of a key. Probably because like a key the switch is used to open the door between light and dark by shining upon the room.

  2. Awesomeness!!! And what? Bad vocabulary? You just used a word I never knew existed! Lackluster, the lacking of brilliance, I had to look that one up. I liked your ending description though "... like a key the switch is used to open the door between light and dark..." That is pure goodness.
